Stroget (Strøget)

Stroget (in danish Strøget) in Copenhagen is the world’s longest pedestrian street with a length of about 1,1 kilometres (about 0,7 miles). And actually it is not only one, but several streets in continuation:

  • Frederiksberggade
  • Nytorv
  • Gammeltorv
  • Nygade
  • Vimmelskaftet
  • Amagertorv
  • Østergade
  • Strøget

Stroget starts (or ends) at Rådhuspladsen (the City Square) near Tivoli and finish near Nyhavn. This way it connects two of the most interesting parts of Copenhagen.

But the street itself is also very interesting with a lot of nice shops and old buildings. If you can not get enough, many of the adjoining street are also pedestrian streets (Købmagergade, Læderstræde, Fiolstræde etc.).

So take a stroll at Stroget on a sunny day (or a winter day) and see the bustling shopping life.
